Yesterday was the longest day ever known to man. After going to bed at about 3.30am on the Saturday night, Dave and I were up again a 6am. We got driven to London at 7am and I was straight into make-up when we got to the job. A lovely lady called Sally was already there waiting for me She won the competition that Refuge ran on their website a little while ago, to spend a day with me. Poor Sally had come all the way from Gloucester so had been up and travelling since 1am! I didn't feel I could complain of tiredness after I heard that! Anyway, after a long stint in make-up, I went straight into filming. I was so excited, I got all giggly. We filmed up until 2pm. Sally watched most of it and Dave went out to meet his sister for lunch. At 2pm, me, Dave, his sister and Sally got in a car to be taken to my second job of the day. I was a judge on the "Showgirl of the year" competition. Basically, it was like Pop Idol but for pole dancers. God, was it fun! Dave and Sally sat at the back of the hall watching the auditions. Some of the girls were amazing and some were just hilarious. I had to stifle laughter so many times, I thought I was going to give myself a hernia. One girl turned up in a tracksuit, she said "I don't do pole dancing" before launching into a very bad copy of a Michael Jackson routine on the floor in front of us. Me and the other two judges had to put our heads on the desk so as not to let her see us in hysterics. I can now see why sometimes Simon Cowell collapses in fits of laughter in front of people at auditions. It's just too hard to hold the laugh in. We managed to get through 30 girls in the space of two hours and we narrowed them down to ten, who were really good. At 5pm, we jumped back in the car to go back to the filming from earlier. I then didn't finish til 2am.
Although it was a painfully long day, I had so mush fun. I loved every second of it! I got to work with someone I've been a fan of for a long time, I got to do a bit of acting (which is what I really want to do long term) and I got to be with Dave all day in between it all. I had a paparazzi guy following me all day. He turned up at the filming in the morning and shot us from across the street, then jumped in his car when I went to the showgirl job, and snapped me going in and out of there. I don't know how he knew where we were in the first place, although we were in the middle of London, which is riddled with paps anyway. From what I gather, they often drive around just looking to see if they can spot anyone. By 9pm, we realised that we still had hours of filming to go, so poor Dave decided to get the train home and go to bed. He had to be up again at 6am today for work. I gave him my door keys so he let himself in and put himself to bed. It was so lovely to come in at 3am and curl up next to him. He was all warm and snuggly. Sally enjoyed herself I think, although it was the longest day ever and she probably had moments of utter boredom as everything seems to drag on for so long. She got to meet another very famous person, she got to watch all the behind the scenes stuff and see how a film is made. She got to watch all the weird and wonderful strippers and we had a good laugh together. She was really lovely. I just felt bad because by about 7pm I was flagging so badly I could hardly hold a conversation. Dave and I had set up a little bed in the corner of the room we were using as a dressing room. Sally covered us over with her shawl and we laid there for a bit while I waited for the next scene to be set up.
Dave was so lovely as well. At one point, he popped out for a wander and came back with a box of chocolates and the book of Brokeback Mountain for me!!! I was so chuffed. I can't wait to start reading the book. What a lovely boyfriend - I certainly didn't expect presents after I'd dragged him all the way to London at 6am on a Sunday to watch me work!! He's the nuts!
Now, I am sitting in the house with Paddy. My cousin Jo (who is down from Bournemouth) is coming over in a minute to see my new house. I am totally chilling out today. It's been a heavy weekend and I'm making a conscious effort to have a relaxed week. It seems everybody feels the same. Lauren called last night to say that she feels like she's just had a week in Ibiza and now needs to recover and Tony sent me a text saying he's not going to drink for a month. We have all over done it recently! We have been partying loads and not getting enough rest. Jordan has gone to Wales for the week to be with his girlfriend so we are now going to stay in and be good. I've just found a jumper of Dave's and I've put it on cos I'm cold and because it smells of him. Paddy is rolling around on the floor trying to get my attention. I think he wants a cuddle. I'm going to go and lay on the rug for a bit with him. When Jo has gone, I'm going to run into Brentwood. Paddy needs a bath and I need to get some food. Tonight I am going to Dave's house. I reckon we'll be in bed by about 8pm. We are both so tired still.
Have a good dayxxxxx
P.s Today at 3pm on BBC2 is my Through the Keyhole. It's really good, but bear in mind, it was filmed in my old house and not in my perfect new house! You get to see exactly how I live anyway and a lot of private things. Watch it, it's very funny. I'm getting the big gold key framed to put up in the new house.
