I've just got home from my salsa class. And blimey did I have fun!! This week we stayed for the intermediate class that takes place directly after beginners. We have not only mastered all of the basic steps (ie. Front and back, side to side and open side to side) but we have now learnt to do a cross over the man and a drop to the floor whilst being spun by the man. Me and Lauren are still taking it in turns to be 'the man'. It's ok though cos we also do get to dance with every man in the room as the teacher makes you swop partners every minute or so. I loved it even more this week; especially now that I'm getting the hang of it. Also, the people are so nice! Everyone chats to us and makes us feel welcome and everyone helps each other with the steps. If someone can't quite get it, someone else will always help you out. It's wicked!
I'm so pleased we've started this. Tomorrow night we are going again, only we're taking my mum and dad and Tony and Pants. I know they are going to love it!
I had a really nice weekend too! Yesterday I did a charity motorbike run. My mate Paul organised it. He's the guy that taught me to ride a bike and got me through my test. Last Thursday night, me and him went and did the route of the run on our bikes. It felt so good to be out on my bike again. I've only been out on it a few times this year. I'd almost forgotten how good it is! As soon as we got going I was flying round the country lanes like a good-un with the wind blowing my hair and the bike growling between my legs. We rode for about an hour and a half and then ended up at my brother's gig. The gig was very busy and apart from being harassed by a drunken girl wanting all of us to dance with her (and not taking no for an answer), we had a very nice time. I rode my bike back to Paul's afterwards and got a lift home with Lauren. I left it at his so that I could ride with him on Sunday morning to the starting point of the run.
A load of our mates from the Harley Davidson club came down for the run on their Harleys and Jordan decided to come on the back of one of them. Jordan then got the bug for it (he's been saying for ages that he wants to do his bike test but never does anything about it) and today he finally went out with Paul to do his training (more about that later).
The run itself was really good. About 150 bikes turned up (each one paid a fiver and all the money went to the Little Haven Children's Hospice). We set off in a giant convoy and everyone had a whale of a time. To be honest, the ride was better when it was just me and Paul as we could go quicker and enjoy ourselves more. With that many bikes on the day, you have to be more aware of everyone around you as you have bikes to your left, right, in front and behind. Saying that, it feels so bloody powerful to be riding with all those others! My mum and dad came to the event as well. They waved us off and were there waiting when we got back. The ride itself was only an hour. Afterwards I judged a few competitions for the best bikes and then a load of us went to a pub and had a few soft drinks. A brilliant day!
Next year we're going to promote it for months and make it 5 times the size of what it was!
Today I got up early, had a few hours sunbathing in my mum and dad's garden by the pool while all the dogs played around me. At 1pm I then went to meet Paul and Jordan for lunch in our other mate Paul's pub. Jordan is now officially doing his training and so they turned up on their bikes in leathers. They were both sweating in the heat! I can't wait for Jord to pass his test so that me and him can go out together. I'm trying to persuade him to get a really cool sports bike but at the moment he's not sure what bike he wants to get. I'm looking at getting the new R6 for myself. I've got an R6 already but as its 2 years old now, I think it might be time for a new one and the new shape one is amazing!
After lunch I went shopping to get a present for my next door neighbour and the three builders who helped me dig out my front garden last week. I got them all a huge crate of beer each. I then came home to water my garden and hanging baskets. It takes forever to do it all cos I have to do it with a piddly little watering can. I also sprinkled some grass seeds on the front lawn. The grass is a bit sparse out there and I want it to be thick and lush. Hopefully if the birds don't eat all the seeds; it'll be beautiful by next week. Blimey I sound like an old woman don't I?! Madness! I never thought I'd see the day I was waffling on about gardening and actually enjoying it!
Enough now though, I don't want to get old before my time! I think I need a man! A man would certainly bring me back down to youth with a bump! It's been so long I can't even remember what it feels like to get excited over a bloke! That said, I did snog Russ and my mate Stiffy in a game of Spin the Bottle on Friday night. And very nice it was too! You can't beat a game of Spin the Bottle. I'm lying: you can; Truth or Dare!!! We played that too but gave up when we realised that we already know EVERYTHING about each other. That game is better played with strangers! Or maybe we should have just played Dare?!
Last night after the bike run I came home to cook myself some dinner and freshen up. I made a pizza from scratch (putting the sauce and cheese and everything on a bare base), whacked it in the oven and was dribbling at the thought of eating it. When I went to get it out, I accidentally touched one of the racks inside the oven, burnt my hand badly, jumped at the pain and dropped the whole pizza face-down on the floor! I had a second where I thought I was going to cry and then remembered I had another spare pizza base in the fridge. I then repeated the whole process and made another pizza. After dinner, me and Jordan went to meet Barry and Rich (two other bike instructors) in Brentwood. Everyone got drunk except me! I wasn't really feeling it. I did have a vodka to begin with but it didn't go down too well so I changed to water and stuck with that. I climbed into bed knackered at 1am and cuddled Paddy and Lyla.
I now have a huge air-filled blister on my hand. It's not attractive! But on the plus side I have a great tan. I only have to look at the sun to go 4 shades darker - I love it!
Lyla is the perfect dog! Not only can she sit when you tell her too but she can now do a 'high-five' as well. Paddy does them too. When you say "High-five", he slaps your hand with one of his paws and at 8 and a half weeks old, Lyla is doing it every time I say it! She's brilliant! I'm going to have so mush fun with her! She's very clever (like her mum! Ha ha) and very very beautiful! She's almost doubled in size since I got her. In a way I want her to stay little forever cos she's so cute but also I can't wait for her to get big so that her and Paddy can play properly. Also they will look the nuts when I take them both out walking! Apparently there were pictures of me and Lyla in a magazine last week. Someone told me today. If anyone has the pics, please send them to me! I'd love to see them! I'm not interested if I'm a magazine but if Lyla Plum is then I want to see it! I'm like a proud mum - I'll make a scrap book of clipping just for my dogs! Ha ha. Seriously though, if anyone does have the magazine they were in, please tear the page out and send it!
I'm now sitting in my house surrounded by moths and flies and weird insects. I've got all the windows open cos it's so hot and of course at night-time with the lights on; the insects flock inside. I feel itchy just looking at them! The problem is that I need the windows open cos I can't breathe otherwise but I don't want to sit here in the dark! Also, in the last few days I have had no less than 4 big spiders in different rooms of the house! I keep putting the thought to the back of my mind cos if I don't I won't be able to sleep here! Maybe I should get a man just to get rid of spiders!
Changing the subject; I've been watching Big Brother. I didn't want to watch it but I happened to switch it on once and have been hooked ever since, I'm even sky-plusing it when I go out! I have come to realise that I cannot bear Lea and Grace. Lisa, Richard and Imogen are annoying and bitchy. Pete, Nikki and Glyn are absolute comedy viewing and a joy to watch and Mikey and whoever's left are just kind of there. I feel like inviting Nikki and Glyn over to mine when they get out just to be entertained for the night! They make me laugh so mush! I felt sorry for Sam when she left because she hadn't actually done anything wrong. Lea, Grace and Lisa had done a load of sh*t-stirring and made it look like Sam had been bitching. Actually it was the three of them that had started it and been two-faced. Problem is they're so self-absorbed and thick that they can't even see it's them who are causing the problems! Poor Sam!
Anyway, since I have nothing amusing to tell you, apart from stuff about gardening and salsa, I'm going to sign off. I've just put some Pizza Express dough balls in the oven and after eating them I'm going to finish reading my Jackie Collins and play with Paddy and Lyla. Hope you are having a good day and managing to enjoy some of this lovely sunshine!
Lots of love
xxxxxxxx
