Well hello there world.
I've had a lovely few days and it's about to get even better. Kyle is on his way over to come and stay with me for a few days! Yippeeee!
Yesterday, I went and had some lunch with my brother (we're speaking again) and Tony. After that, the three of us plus Stevie (who is in bits cos he's just found out that Robbie Williams was apparently at Heaven nightclub on Saturday night - and he didn't bother going!) came back to mine. We were all going to take Paddy over the park for a long walk but it started to chuck it down the minute we got home. Instead, Tony went home and me, Jord and Stevie went to Tescos to do some food shopping. While walking round there, we started talking about Costco (the giant retail shop) and decided that we had to find a way to become a member so that we could go and buy a trampoline for my garden. I phoned my mum and she told me that because I'm self employed and VAT registered (my name is my business), I could join straight away if I took id with me. That said, we jumped back in the car and drove to the nearest one (in Lakeside). I joined up and we spent a blissful hour in there buying ridiculous, but joyful things like 2ft tall glass jars full of mini eggs. I didn't get a trampoline cos we realised that we wouldn't fit it in the car, but as soon as the weather is nicer, we are going back there in Jordan's van to get one.
We always had a trampoline at my mum's and I've spent many a happy hour on it. I NEED one for my garden. We also saw the nicest garden furniture and are going to go back for some of that for the summer so that I can throw the best ever garden parties. Everyone I know is also trying to persuade me to buy a hot-tub. I'm not too fussed on them but I'm under pressure from every angle. Because my garden is huge, everyone is excited at the prospect of the different things I can do to it or put in it. I'm definitely going to have a conservatory built, but on top of that; Stevie wants a veranda with sofas underneath, Jordan wants a permanent barbeque built onto the patio, loads of people are calling for a swimming pool and every single person I know (including my mum!) thinks I should have a hot-tub. I'll sort it all out next week when I get a landscape gardener round to design it for me!
When we got home, my mate Chloe came over (if you've read my book, she's my old Stringfellows friend - if you haven't - basically, she used to come to Strings with her boyf and mates and she always used to get dances off me, until one day I persuaded her to come and work there! We've been really good mates ever since and I love her to bits - read the book for stories of our adventures and how we used to bunk off work all the time to go out clubbing in London). Chloe is 6 and a half months pregnant and she's absolutely glowing! She hasn't put on any weight at all; she just has a tiny neat bump. She looks amazing. Jord and Russ popped over to see her and so did my mum and dad. Me and Steve cooed over her belly and I kept touching it. I'm so excited! She's the third friend of mine that's had a baby. We told her we'd happily babysit and we had a very nice evening sitting around chatting.
Today I had some great news - I'm going to be working for the Moto GP at Donnington again this year (did anyone see the first race on Sunday - CANNOT believe that Rossi fell off at the first corner; what a legend for getting back on and STILL beating two riders though!). I was jumping up and down at the thought of going back there. It was only two days ago I was thinking to myself "who should I call to try and get tickets for this year?" Now, because I'm working there, I've been given ten VIP access all area tickets and also ten VIP tickets for the British Superbikes!! Woohooo! I'm over the moon and so is my dad. I'm going up to Donnington this Friday to do a press day and have a look at their new media centre, so I'll need to wear something sexy cos there'll be photographers there.
I'd like to quickly point out again that I DO NOT HAVE a Myspace. Anybody pretending to be me on there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with me or my family. There were, at one point, 24 people on there pretending to be me. Apparently there are now only 14 left! I'm working on having them all closed down and, as mentioned before, suing Myspace and certain individuals for identity theft and theft of pictures and blogs from this site. My brother has a Myspace so that people can listen to his music. His is www.myspace.com/jordanandthesection
Anyway, I better be off. I'm going to leave you with a piece that Sali wrote for Glos magazine (she's the lovely woman who won the prize of spending the day with me in association with Every Woman and Refuge). I think it sums up the day nicely. Have a look, it's called A Day in the Life of Jodie Marsh:
A Day in the life of Jodie Marsh
I enter quite a lot of competitions, after all, someone's got to win, haven't they? So when the 'Everywomen Newsletter' arrived in my 'Inbox', promoting a competition in conjunction with the charity 'Refuge', I just had to enter. It was 'Text 2 Win', with different numbers for different prizes, and profits going to Refuge.
I decided that I would just send in one text entry, for the prize I would most like. Would it be:- 2 Tickets to the 2006 Wimbledon Final (Men's Single), a 2 night stay at Bovey Castle, a Tour of Coronation Street, a Day in the Life of Jodie Marsh, a Day on the Set at Company Pictures, Lunch for 2 at The River Café, etc., etc. I love people and finding out 'what makes them tick', seeing how they live their lives and how they see themselves, so I couldn't resist texting for the day out with Jodie.
Imagine my amazement, when I received a phone call in December, from Refuge, telling me that I had won! I was told it would probably take place in the New Year, at a mutually convenient date.
After a flurry of phone call and emails, the day was fixed for Sunday 6th March. I was to accompany Jodie to a video shoot for The Streets and then on to a Showgirl of the Year Competition, where Jodie was going to be one of the three judges. I needed to be in the West End for 8am. After buying a new outfit for the day (it has to be done, doesn't it!!), I couldn't justify spending an additional £99.50 on a hotel room for the night, so decided to travel by coach. Getting up at 1am on Sunday morning made me regret this option. I was waiting for the coach to arrive at 3am, at Gloucester Coach Station, as others were leaving the night clubs and heading for home.
Armed with my A-Z, I arrived at the venue at 7.30am, with the many freelancers who were to be working on the production. Jodie arrived with her boyfriend, Dave, at around 8am and I was immediately drawn into one of the most surreal days of my life. Firstly, I should mention that Jodie is tiny. Really, really petite and very beautiful. I was quite taken back, because she looks far nicer 'in the flesh' (as it were) than in photos I have seen, or on TV. She was immediately very friendly towards me and towards everyone else on set, as was Dave.
I watched Jodie being 'made up' and marvelled at her patience. The rest of the morning was spent watching different people going through make up and costume changes for the video, including Mike Skinner (The Streets) himself.
At one point, I was gazing out of an upstairs window, when I noticed a photographer, partially hidden behind a white van, with a long lens on his camera, snapping away. It seems that Jodie had popped outside for a cigarette (no smoking inside the house) and that he had been trying to capture the moment!
At 2pm Jodie was being pulled two ways, there was pressure on her to stay for some more filming, but she was due at the Showgirl competition, also in the West End. She tried desperately hard to please everyone, staying for one more shot, and taking just 30 seconds to change, before leaping into the car which was ready to take us on to the next destination. Stepping out of the car on arrival, we again noticed the same photographer, merrily snapping away. There was no time for lunch; it was straight into a filmed interview with the Showgirl's presenter, prior to commencing the judging. I slipped outside with Jodie, for some fresh air, but the lens was on her again. She explained that he was probably trying to get a photograph of her smoking. She is very conscious of the fact that she is a role model for many youngsters and goes to great pains to make sure that she isn't photographed smoking, because it's not something she wants to encourage others to do. The pressure on her must be enormous. Our conversation was interrupted by a horn hooting and a middle aged man, who told her his name was Roland, leaning out of the window towards her. He then stopped his car, in the middle of the road, and rushed over to shake her hand and ask her name. She was very gracious towards him, and as he rushed off to move his car, he called to her that he wanted to take her out, before putting his car into reverse and narrowly missing the car behind. We returned for the judging, where a few minutes later we were disturbed by a commotion at the door. It was Roland, seeking out Jodie so that he could hand her his contact numbers, in case she agreed to date him. She told him she had a boyfriend, but it didn't seem to matter to the smitten Roland. It's one of life's mysteries, why middle-aged men feel that young, beautiful, women (who are probably young enough to be their daughters), would want to date them! I don't think he even realised who she was, he was just carried away by her beauty (and undoubtedly her cleavage).... one day he'll probably open a newspaper, or magazine, and choke on his cornflakes, when he sees Jodie smiling at him.
The competition turned out to be, in the words of Jodie's boyfriend, a 'Pole Idol' Contest, which was amazing. Some of the girls managed to hang upside down on the pole, holding on with just one leg, for an awfully long time, whilst moving the other leg and both arms quite seductively. As with Pop Idol, there were one or two, who hadn't quite got what it takes and I noticed Jodie staring intently at her marking sheets whilst they were performing. It was all good clean fun and, judging from the beautiful, lithe bodies of the contestants, an excellent form of exercise. Jodie told me that she used to pole dance and is having a pole fitted into her home, so that she can continue to exercise this way.
When all of the contestants had finished, they were gathered together and told whether or not they had been successful, in going through to the next round. We needed to get back to the filming (we were running behind time), but contestants were asking if they could photograph Jodie with their camera phones. Again, she agreed to the requests, before rushing back to the car. We edged through the heavy traffic and she was rushed back upstairs to wardrobe and makeup, prior to going on set. She was starving hungry and very tired (having had little sleep the night before), and then we discovered that she wasn't needed that quickly after all! I would have been furious, but Jodie was Jodie.... calm, smiling and relaxed. She asked me whether I had enjoyed my day. I had, of course, but I would never want to swop places with her.
Jodie was still working when I left her at 8.45pm. I doubt she got home before midnight. My opinion of Jodie? A bright, confident person, with a warm engaging personality, who is great fun to be around.
